The Kia Niro Tri-Fuel makes its debut on the Italian market. Developed thanks to the historic partnership with Westport Fuel System Italia/BRC based on HEV motorization, with the addition of LPG fuel, it will further enrich Niro’s offering with a technological and innovative product that can boast of being one of the very first “tri-fuel” vehicles on the market.
Like the full hybrid version, the Niro Tri-Fuel is powered by the highly efficient 1.6-liter Smartstream GDI engine, which in this version delivers 90 hp. Combined with the 43.5 hp of the electric motor, it delivers a maximum combined power output of 126 hp.
Operation while driving remains the same, with a view to maximizing the simplicity of the customer’s experience of using the car, with virtually unchanged performance. The six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission ensures maximum relaxation and smoothness in all situations, aided by MacPherson front suspension and four-link rear suspension.
Thanks to the new LPG hybrid technology, the Niro Tri-Fuel guarantees the same driving pleasure with the added bonus of significant savings. For example, with the Business version of the Niro Tri-Fuel, you can travel approximately 1,600 km on a full tank in combined cycle, calculating that the gasoline tank has a capacity of 42 liters and the LPG tank 40 liters.
Dynamic and elegant exterior design for a unique personality
The Kia Niro features a dynamic design inspired by the “Opposites United” philosophy and, in particular, by the concept of “Joy for Reason.” The design draws inspiration from nature in its choice of colors, materials, and finishes, with a vision of the car projected into the future.
The exterior of the Niro combines sophistication with the adventurous spirit typical of a crossover. An elegant and dynamic look combines with high-tech design. The generously sized C-pillar blends seamlessly with the striking boomerang-shaped rear lights, but also acts as an airflow channel to increase aerodynamic efficiency.
At the front, Kia’s Tiger Face extends from the hood to the muscular fender. The contemporary design of the front end is complemented by “heartbeat” LED daytime running lights that increase safety and at the same time enhance recognizability thanks to their distinctive light signature, while an exclusive skid plate and specific cladding serve to enhance the vehicle’s rugged appearance.
The Niro is 4,420 mm long, 1,825 mm wide, 1,545 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.
The Kia Niro Tri-Fuel is also available in the eight exterior colors of the current Niro range: Cityscape Green, Clear White, Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black Pearl, Mineral Blue, Interstellar Gray, Runway Red, and Steel Gray.
Innovative, minimalist cockpit for an optimal user experience
Great care has been taken in the interior design, with every detail carefully conceived to offer a pleasant, relaxing, and functional environment for all passengers.
The use of slim front seats provides more space for rear passengers; each seat is equipped with USB-C ports for charging electronic devices.
The driving position is designed around the driver, with the offset dashboard wrapping around the seat and all the necessary controls within easy reach. Two 10.25-inch screens display vehicle and navigation information, while a multimodal touchscreen controls the various infotainment and heating functions, minimizing distractions.
Advanced voice recognition technology allows occupants to control frequently used systems such as temperature and audio settings, and with the Multi-Command system, passengers can control multiple functions with a single command.
Security systems
Kia’s DriveWise intelligent driver assistance systems (ADAS) ensure that the Niro provides advanced systems for maximum peace of mind when using the vehicle.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) monitors the risk of collisions with other road users and pedestrians. The system signals the risk with an audible and visual warning and, in the most dangerous situations, can intervene directly on the braking system. When approaching intersections, using the turn signal activates the Junction Turning function. If the system emits an audible warning and the driver does not respond, the system will automatically apply the brakes to avoid a potential collision.
Niro’s front camera and integrated navigation system work together to display the speed limit on the road you are traveling on. The Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) system will display the driving speed and project a visual warning if the limit is exceeded. Other ADAS features have been introduced to enhance safety, including Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Highway Driving Assist (HDA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), High Beam Assist (HBA), Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control-Curve (NSCC-C), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Rear View Monitor (RVM), and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA).
