Research and Development

Excellence made in Italy

Thanks to the work of its Research and Development Division, Westport Fuel Systems has introduced the first Italian LPG and CNG gas injection system and the first LPG gas injection system for direct injection gasoline vehicles.

Divided into mechanical and electronic departments, the Research and Development Division has, since 2011, operated from its own centre in a new facility covering over 4,000 square metres, equipped with the most innovative and cutting-edge tools.

Among these, the following stand out:

  • Climate chambers with temperature and humidity control
  • Thermal shock chamber and salt spray chamber
  • Fluid dynamics benches equipped for all types of endurance and functional testing
  • Electrodynamic vibrating table
  • Roller test benches and engine test benches
